Once Was No Longer
I morn the ‘once was me’
I remember her
The ‘I’ has become frigid
With skin like armor
Without seams
Impenetrable
I miss caring
Sleepless at an inkling the ‘once was me’ hurt someone
By thought or deed
No matter how unintended
It seared the ‘once was…’ like molten metal
The ‘I’s’ breath is cold
It leaves motes in warm air
Clouds the aspect of bonds once treasured
I miss the ‘once was me’
The ‘I’ stares out from her face and molds it implacable
Worse
The ‘I’ no longer fears alone
The ‘once was me’ screams
Agony
In silence
